0.8.0 put you at the controls. 0.9.0 is about the spotlight: getting what you make in front of people, finding the community's best, and talking to Sprig about the page right in front of you — plus a couple of fixes that should have just worked.
Share, in one tap
Every published page now has a Share button. On a phone it opens the native share sheet — Messages, WhatsApp, AirDrop, wherever your people are — and on the desktop it copies the link. It's on shared pages and on community agent pages, and lessons already had it. Less "copy the URL from the address bar," more "send this to a friend."
Links that bring a picture
Paste a Chervil page link into a text, a Slack channel, or a tweet, and it shows up with its hero image in the preview — not a bare blue link. If a page was composed with a cover image, that cover is what people see before they even click. Little thing; big difference in whether anyone opens it.
Rate the community's best
The Agent store, Share gallery, and Lessons now have community star ratings. Open any published agent, page, or lesson and rate it right there; the average and count show on every card, so the strongest community work rises to the top instead of just the newest. (Ratings are tied to your account — one per person, change it anytime.)
Chat about the page you just made
Chat mode used to be a separate lane — flip it on, get plain replies, flip it off for pages. Now, when you've composed a page, chat can talk about that page: ask it to summarize, explain a section, or quiz you on what's there, all grounded in the page you're looking at. Toggle 💬 on and off freely; the page stays in view the whole time.
Know when there's a new Chervil
Chervil is alpha and moving fast, and until now you had to check GitHub to know a new build shipped. Settings → You now has a Check for updates link: it tells you whether there's a newer version and takes you straight to the download.
Two fixes worth calling out
- Closing a tab stops its audio. Play a YouTube video, close the tab, and… the sound used to keep going until you quit Chervil. The page is now fully unloaded when you leave it — silence when you expect silence.
- "Listen / pronounce" buttons make sound. Composed pages (language lessons especially) run in a locked-down sandbox where the browser's speech engine was mute. Those buttons now speak through Chervil, picking a voice that matches the language — Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and more.
Get it
Chervil is free, open source, and bring-your-own-AI. Download for Windows, browse the Agent store and Share gallery, star it on GitHub, or come say hi on Discord. Hosting & sharing live in Chervil Pro — the app stays free.
