Agents

Give Sprig a persona and instructions — or a whole team of specialists that work together.

An agent is a saved persona and set of instructions that shapes how Sprig responds. Turn one on and Sprig adopts its role for the conversation — a coding tutor, a travel planner, a brand copywriter, a fitness coach. Chervil ships with a set of starter agents, and you can create your own.

Using an agent

Pick an active agent and every request runs through its persona. The agent's instructions guide tone, expertise, and what Sprig prioritizes — without you having to re-explain yourself each time.

Building your own

Create an agent by giving it a name, a description, and instructions (its persona). Anything you'd otherwise repeat in every prompt — "always answer as a patient math tutor and end with a practice problem" — belongs in an agent.

Teams of agents

Agents can also work together. A multi-agent team is a group of specialists — say a researcher, a critic, and a writer — that hand work between them to produce something better than any single pass. A coordinator looks at the work so far and decides which teammate should act next, until the team has enough to compose the final result.

Use a team when a task has distinct stages: research → critique → draft, or plan → build → review.

Sharing agents

Agents you build can be published to the Chervil community store, and you can import agents others have shared. See Publishing & the store.
