Moving to a new browser usually means starting over. Chervil doesn't make you. It can import your bookmarks, browsing history, saved passwords, and address autofill from Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Vivaldi — so the switch is a few clicks, not a fresh start.
Everything below lives in Settings → Browser → Import from another browser. All of it is read-only (Chervil never changes your other browser's data) and runs on your machine — nothing is uploaded.
Bookmarks → Favorites
Click Import bookmarks…, pick the browser profile, and your bookmarks come in as Favorites, keeping their folder structure. (In Chervil, saved websites are Favorites; the pages you compose with Sprig are Saved Pages — so your browser bookmarks naturally become Favorites.)
Re-importing is safe: duplicates are skipped, so you can run it again after adding more bookmarks elsewhere.
Browsing history
Click Import history… and your recent visits land in Library → History. Chervil keeps a rolling window of your most recent history, so an import brings the latest visits rather than your entire multi-year archive.
Passwords
Chervil imports passwords from a CSV export — the way every password manager does it, and the only way that still works now that Chrome encrypts its password store so tightly (app-bound encryption). It's also the most complete: because you export from the browser, you get all your passwords, not just the ones an older format could decrypt.
- In your other browser, open Settings → Passwords → Export passwords and save the CSV.
- In Chervil, go to Settings → Browser → Import → Import passwords… and choose that file.
Your passwords are read and saved entirely inside Chervil's main process and land in the same encrypted, passphrase-locked vault as any login you save by hand — the plaintext never touches the on-screen part of the app, and Sprig never sees it. You'll be asked to set up or unlock your vault first. When you're done, delete the CSV — it's an unencrypted copy of your passwords sitting on disk.
Address & contact autofill
Click Import address… to fill your Chervil autofill identity — name, email, phone, street address, and so on — from a saved address in your other browser. Handy for filling forms on real sites without retyping. (Payment cards aren't imported; add those yourself in Settings → Security, where they're encrypted.)
What's not imported
- Payment cards — encrypted like passwords, but without a standard export; add them by hand in the vault.
- Extensions, open tabs, and settings — Chervil is its own browser with its own agentic features, so these don't carry over.
- Firefox — the import currently covers Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi).
